Big Air History.....
In 1997 I came to Cabarete following my old friend and Co founder of No Work Team Andrea Ippolito.
I took over the No work team Shop from him and started living here and running the No Work Team Shop and a small Surf School at Encuentro.
Before I came here I had a windsurfing school at Italy (Vieste del Gargano) and a Snow boarding school in germany (Oberstdorf).
After 10 beautyful years pendling between Germany and Italy I decided to find a place where I could live all year long.
I managed to sell the snow boarding school “Boardomania” to Sven Gittermann from Oberstdorf and I started to travel around the world to find a new home.
When I finally visited my fríend Andrea Ipolito from The No Work Team in Cabarete I knew that this is the place to stay.
So he went back to Italy and I took over the No Work Team shop in Cabarete.
The next summer I went back to Vieste and I sold the windsurfing school to Kersten Bogner from Austria which I met one year before at Lake Garda in Italy.
When I left Italy I told Kersten, that for sure in 10 years we will meet in Cabarete.
But already 6 years later in 2004 he showed up in Cabarete together with Andrea Ippolito and we decided to start a Kite boarding School at Cabarete. So at December of 2004 we founded the Bozo Beach Kite Club and we had a lot of fun and success with this.
Unfortunately in September 2006 the land where we were running the school got sold and we had to leave the place. Luckily we found a place at Punta Goleta beach to set up our school again.
So we moved the whole constrution down the beach, even we knew if this peace of land get sold we need to move again.
Before we started our business Cabarete Real Estate was in a deep sleep and we thought that this land will never get sold.
But we failed and at this times Cabarete started to get in a boom of real estate and after one year our property got sold and we had to move again in summer 2007.
Because of my partners working in Italy in summer I was alone at this time but I got managed to settle up the school at two places in Cabarete.
One was the famous Café Pitu with the fanatic windsurfing center and the other was Happy Surf Center at Villa Taina.
All this changes were too much for our austrian friend Kesrstin Bogner and he left the company.
Together with Andrea Ipolito we changed the name to Big air Kite School and we found a new awsome place which was just 10m east of our first location, but on a diffrent property and we finally could manage to get a real contract with the land lord.
This was at the end of 2008 and now the Big air Kite School got established at this place for more than 6 years.
In 2010 Andrea decided to move his centre of live to Isla Magherita in Venzuela and since than I am managing the Big air Kite school by my own and we are having lot of fun with our nice team and the perfect conditions Cabarete is offering to our sport.
After 17 years still loving Cabarete
